4 Home Remedies for Body Pain

Body pain can have a bunch of causes. There are some that can be attributed to minor stretches, such as when you work out after a long while and feel the burn on your body the next day. But others can be more serious, resulting from intense physical activity or whiplash injuries.

Whatever caused your body pain or body ache, you’re probably here because the discomfort is too much to bear. While there are home remedies that have proven to be effective, it’s always best to see a doctor or chiropractor who can diagnose and address the problem. If that’s not an option, here are some home remedies for body pain you can try.

Take a salt bath

Salt baths have risen in popularity because of their relaxation benefits. Popping a few Epsom salts in hot water and soaking your body will provide quick relief for body pain. This is due to their high magnesium and sulfate content that can be easily absorbed in the skin and reduce inflammation, soothe muscle spasms, and relax tense areas.

For body pain relief, add two cups of salts to your bath tub and dive in. Stay there for about 20 minutes, which is enough time for your skin to absorb all the muscle-healing nutrients. You can repeat this process anytime you feel intense pain in the critical area for quick relief.

Get active

Maybe the last thing you want to do when you’re experiencing body pain is to walk around and do some physical activity. Instead, it would be tempting to lay down and relax the critical area, waiting for the pain the subside. But doing this may actually make it worse.

The pain that you feel from muscle strains is often caused by tension in that part of your body. And the most effective way to release that tension and remove stress on your muscles is to exercise regularly. That would help strengthen and stretch joints and muscles, thereby reducing the pain.

Replenish your body’s collagen content

Collagen is usually mistaken as a nutrient for the skin. But actually, it plays an important role in how our body functions. Collagen can also be found in muscles and joints, acting as a glue that holds everything together. It helps keep our body’s connecting tissues, muscles, and joints strong and reduces pain and tension in critical areas.

Collagen is the most abundant protein in our bodies. When experiencing body pain, replenishing our bodies with collagen allows us to aid our body in its natural healing process. Consume foods that are high in protein such as chicken, beef, and fish.

Consume apple cider vinegar or rub it on the painful area

Apple cider vinegar, like other types of vinegar, are known for their antibacterial properties. These acids can help reduce inflammation and flush out toxins in the body. They dissolve the acids that build up in joints and muscles, thereby reducing tension and pain in the area. Although some people rub apple cider vinegar on their bodies, its effects can be maximized by consumption. You can either take a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar or opt to mix it with honey and water.

Most body pains can be healed simply by the use of home remedies. Others, however, are more serious and might need medical assistance. See your doctor if the pain subsists or if these remedies don’t help.
